According to the National Science Foundation (NSF), the percentage of Science and Engineering (S&E) Bachelor Degrees earned by women have increased from 24.8% in 1966 to 50.5% in 2006!! As for Master’s (S&E) Degrees earned by women, the percentage has increased from 13.3% to 44.9%! That’s over a 3X increase! Way to go ladies!
A lot has changed in the past 40 years including the growth and development of the Society of Women Engineers! Celebrating the Society’s 60th Anniversary this past year, current and past members have been recognized for their continued contributions to the world of engineering. As for our local section, we are doing great things as well. I am looking forward to the 8th Annual Girl Scout Patch Day event on October30th as well as the upcoming PD and Membership events. I am thrilled to be working alongside Angela this year developing goals for the year and supporting our committee chairs.
