Social Media: Don’t miss the boat!
Most of us have either a Facebook or Twitter account, or are connected on LinkedIn but I know many people who are “anti” these sites. These days you can’t even watch the local news without hearing about one or more of these social media sites (for good and bad reasons). For those of you who don’t belong to one of these networks, you are missing out! Now maybe not all of us are interested to know what our friends or colleagues are eating for breakfast or what they are watching on TV or even who got kicked off of The Bachelor, but there are other things that we may be missing the boat on.
Some examples include:
- Coupons, discounts, and deals from restaurants, bars, salons, etc
- Local and World News (the kind that is non-celebrity related)
- Exciting news from family and friends (ex. engagements, new jobs, baby news, etc)
- New job/career opportunities (remember: “It’s who you know, not what you know”)

So hopefully, this list (which is not complete) gives you a little motivation to join one or more of these social networking sites.
If you haven’t joined our SWE-MN Facebook page or Linked In group, please do! We are starting to post more information about our events and programs to help spread the word.
